The Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM) hosts all of those working in the field of oncology in Italy. It brings together more than 2,500 medical oncologists and is coordinated by an Executive Council of 13 members. From 1973, when a group of pioneers founded the Italian Association of Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Milan, the scientific and institutional influence of AIOM has increased: the Society is now able to produce instruments and documents, which can be used for an effective dialogue both at the national - in particular with the Ministry of Health and the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) - and regional level, where engagement is even more intense. The role of AIOM at national level is extremely relevant for the oncology community, mainly related to the Italian Oncology Guidelines, but not only.
ESMO and AIOM signed a reciprocal agreement in 2010 to widen the range and improve the quality of services provided to their members. All oncology professionals who subscribe for Full Membership to both ESMO and AIOM at the same time will receive the first year of membership for free and benefit from reduced annual membership fees in subsequent years.
The Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) is a non-profit professional academic group that is voluntarily constituted by clinical oncology professionals, relevant enterprises and public institutions. CSCO has been committed to developing continuing medical education on clinical oncology, enhancing multidisciplinary collaboration, encouraging multi-centre research, promoting the standardization of tumor diagnosis and treatment, and furthering the development of clinical oncology, so as to benefit patients in all. The number of members of CSCO has exceeded 11,000.
